I am ONE!!!

Aubrey is officially ONE YEAR OLD! After driving daddy to class, Aubrey and I met up with a couple of our new friends at Under Water World on the Wharf! We bought an annual pass so that we can go back often and look at all the fun sea creatures.





Then we picked daddy up and went home for some lunch...



Then headed to the beach of course!



Look at how well she is standing on her own! She has great balance but hasn't got the confidence to take any steps on her own...yet.







She LOVES playing in the waves and feeling the sand!

New words.... "bu-ya-bu-ya-bu-ya" "bu-da-bu-da-bu-da"....she says "thaAat" a lot, with a high inflection in the middle...usually when she wants whatever "thaAat" is.

Not sure how much she weighs....probably around 20-21 lbs...

She loves life and is sweet to other children. She has started to recognize how fun toys are and want them....she likes to put lids on things. She likes to play with other children...she is not the rambunctious one...she is usually the mellow observant one who doesn't mind if her toy gets snatched from her :)

First Fattie

This arvo Bubs got her first fattie (ie. This afternoon Aubrey got her first fat lip - I don't know if Aussies would call a fat lip a "fattie" but it sounds like the kind of thing they would say). It was so sad. She has another little "bike" she can sit on, but she was using it as a walking toy and tumbled over top of it sideways, to the opposite side, flat on her kisser. I am so glad she doesn't have teeth yet because i am sure they would have gone through her little lips. She scream-cried for a few minutes, pointing at the bike saying "that!". Awwwwwwwww. I am not ready for skinned knees!!!

New Videos

beach walk : (note: turn off blog music at bottom of page). We bought Aubrey a pack 'n play at a garage sale (way over priced, the Aussies expect a lot for their used items compared to North Americans!) but we did get the lady to throw in Aubrey's new favourite toy!

This was the first day that Aubrey woke up, saw some new toys and said "What's sat?" It's like the world of toys has opened up for her and today she actually would get very upset if we took her away from new toys! She is overcoming new obstacles and we need to be sensitive to that fact....letting her accomplish a task rather than swooping in and pulling her away from it without warning.

Time to go get some errands done so that we can go to the beach again! It is the best place for her to cruise!

Aubrey's First Birthday Party

We threw Aubrey a "Cute as a Button" birthday party the day before we flew from Canada to Australia. We had her party a couple weeks early so that we could celebrate with some of her family and friends. Auntie Taylor and Nana did LOTS of work, and it was a super cute party!

The big girls made crafts with buttons, and Aubrey got lots of hugs from her cousin, Arden. Aubrey LOVES big girls! She is always giving them hugs back.



Then we had cupcakes...made from scratch by Auntie Tay. So yummy! Bree and Huds share an inside joke before they have their delicious & healthy "cupcakes".

Opening presents...things got a little crazy! Good thing the big girls were there to help. Huds is just standing off to the side watching....such a cool guy!

AUSTRALIA UPDATE

So we made it to the Sunshine Coast a week ago now. Aubrey did fantastic with all the traveling! The first leg was Calgary to LAX....it was right at her bedtime...did she sleep? Uh no. She was SUPER hyper! It was hilarious, she has such a fun personality. She was just laughing and giddy like a little girl. The flight attendants loved her...by the time we got to LAX she was pooped though. She slept almost the whole way to Brisbane. About 5 minutes left before the final descent, we let Aubrey watch a little Mickey Mouse. She really liked it. No more TV until her 2nd birthday!

Okay, so real quick, we are getting settled! We live 10 min to the nicest beach ever. We bought a car from a guy named Baldy. 97 toyota camry please treat us well!!

Something new

It's amazing that we left North Carolina and Aubrey couldn't even sit on her own. Now five months later and she has grown by leaps and bounds.

She loves my blackberry way too much. I don't usually let her play with it....but it always makes her happy if she somehow can get her hands on it. Same with Ben's iPod Touch. Yikes!

Last Days of Summer 2010

11 Months Old

Wow, 11 months already! Aubrey grew so much during our time in BC, Canada, it really is fun to look back to when we first got here and try to imagine her....just learning to crawl and still a little wobbly - sometimes falling flat on her face. Now she can even speed crawl. Here are a few other things...

20 -ish lbs
__ in long (I'll update that when I get her still enough to measure!)

Climbing all the staircases
Pulling herself up to standing
Saying "HI" to everyone!
Pointing at objects and people and saying "Wassat?" and "Wa is sat?"
Record sleep in (bed by 7pm-wake up 7am to nurse, back to sleep by 730am- sleep until 1030am).

OUR FAVOURITE THING about summer holidays :

Aubrey waking us up in the morning, daddy bringing her into our bed, and giving us all her sweet cuddles and kisses after she nurses.
